GLOSSARY

NO-CLIP (NO-CLIPPING): To glitch through solid objects and environments in a video game to reach another environment. 

WEIRDCORE: Internet subculture and surrealist aesthetic centred around low quality and digitally constructed images created to cause feelings of disorientation, alienation, dread, and nostalgia. 

THE BACKROOMS: urban legend/creepy pasta described as an endless maze of empty office rooms characterized by yellow wallpaper, the smell of damp carpet and the hum of florescent lighting. originating from a 4chan post and has since developed into an internet subculture where the fanbase have extended upon the lore (to where the backrooms consists of hundreds (potentially endless) differing 'levels' with an assortment of entities.

CANON (CANONICAL): Refers to material considered by the fan base to be an official part of a story. 

LORE: refers to information key to a establishing a narrative such as in video games, dungeons and dragons and film. (includes elements such as but not limited to characters, creatures, setting and metaphysical rules).

ANALOG HORROR: subgenre of found footage, incorporating "analog" style media such as VHS tapes, TV broadcasts and educational/informative videos paired with horror elements intended to cause feelings of fear, dread and uncanniness.

ARG (ALTERNATE REALITY GAMING): cross-media genre of interactive fiction mixes real-world elements with gameplay. Utilised hidden messages and puzzles across different platforms (websites, hidden videos on YouTube, SMS and others). Based in the idea there is more information the audience can decipher the more they look. 

CREEPYPASTA: user-generated horror fiction, usually from anonymous 4chan posts.
